The brown algae Wakame (Undaria pinnatifida) is the most important Japanese edible algae after Nori and is considered a delicacy. It was successfully introduced in Brittany and has been cultivated there ever since. One way to absorb good minerals is to cook with seaweed.

The Wakame algae is so easy to use. It is usually easy to cook in dishes. you add them right at the beginning and steam them in fat especially well combined in vegetable soups with many vegetables, fits perfectly with onions, leeks and cabbage dishes.

At the same time, algae are rich in all vital minerals, trace elements and vitamins. They contain calcium, magnesium, potassium, zinc, selenium and iron in high concentrations. Algae are also good sources for vitamins A, C and E as well as for niacin and folic acid. They are designed to strengthen skin, hair, nails, connective tissue and even the immune system. The contained alginic acid contributes to the detoxification and purification of the intestine.

A whole new culinary experience. In the kitchen: Wakame algae as an ingredient in salads - crush in the mortar after roasting and use as a spice. Cooked as a side dish with fish, meat or seafood, in salads, scrambled eggs, croquettes, stews, rice and pasta.

Therefore, the German Society for Nutrition recommends an average daily intake of no more than 0.2mg of iodine. Maximum daily consumption of approx. 1g = 1 algae or 1 tablespoon of Wakame algenflakes.
